Tom Jones is an extreme athlete, motivational speaker,
martial arts expert, international kickboxing champion,
endurance runner, inventor, humanitarian and child
advocate. Based on his own tragic experiences as a child
at home and in the foster care system, Tom has dedicated
his life to helping the less fortunate with a focus on
ending child abuse and neglect.
In 2000, he ran an unprecedented 120 consecutive marathons
(26.2 miles) in 120 days from his home in Huntington
Beach, California to New York City, New York. There he
participated in ceremonies and competed in the New York
City Marathon to raise money for underprivileged
children. These extreme running events were spectacular
media success stories for the principal sponsors: Viking
Computer Memory in 1998, 24-Hour Fitness in 1999, and
Logic Nutrition in 2000. The combined value of media
exposure for the three events is estimated at more than
3.5 million dollars.
In 2003, Tom once again distinguished himself among all
other athletes in the world by running a complete marathon
(26.2 miles) in under four hours; then immediately fought
a 5-round sanctioned Muay Thai kick boxing match, scoring
a third round KO. |

Tom has become a role model and inspiration to others. He knows
first-hand that without support, at-risk individuals could become
tomorrow's abusers, child molesters, delinquents, and
criminals-negatively affecting society. With well over 20 years of
experience in Martial Arts, Tom has a 4th degree black belt in sport
Karate, and holds national, international, and world kick boxing
titles.
Tom has dedicated his life and his remarkable athletic durability to
bring awareness to major societal issues by staging newsworthy
extreme athletic events. He is a seven-time professional Muay Thai
Kickboxing champion, who began his career in Martial Arts at the age
of three. But Tom’s rise to success came only after many years of
tragic experiences as a child at home and in the foster care
system. And, his story is one that will motivate anyone to "Adapt,
Overcome and Endure," regardless of their past or current
situation.
Tom competed in Sport Karate through much of his troubled youth, and
in the U.S. Marine Corps, which he joined at the age of 19. As a
Marine, he graduated number one in a class of 3000, and competed in
local Martial Arts tournaments. He continued to place first,
eventually winning Grand Championships in his division and turning
professional.
Since his discharge from the Marine Corps, Tom, has been on a
mission to help underprivileged children. In 1998, 1999 and 2001,
he ran the distance of the entire length of California to raise
money and awareness for this cause.
Tom Jones has continued his extreme ways, and as the oldest
competitor in the sport, won the North American Welterweight
Kickboxing title this past year. His next extreme event is
scheduled for September through November 2007, when Tom (accompanied
along parts of his course by thousands of other concerned watermen)
will traverse the entire U.S. Pacific coastline by paddleboard in an
effort to halt the "Plastic Pollution Plague," threatening to
destroy our most precious resource. This project is already
receiving widespread support from renowned surfers, the surf
industry as a whole, and companies concerned about the preservation
of our most precious resource.
Tom’s athleticism is matched only by his persistence in achieving
what he sets his mind on. He is a proud husband and father, who is
helping to ensure that his children and future generations are able
to enjoy the ocean. Tom hopes that the upcoming Paddle Project will
inspire others to push their limits to make the world a better
place, and show today's youth that anything is possible with passion
and dedication.
